During a recent episode of The Voice, Reba McEntire became emotional while remembering her late stepson, Brandon Blackstock.

On Monday (October 27), McEntire, a coach on the NBC singing competition, was moved to tears after contestant Aubrey Nicole performed Martina McBride's "I'm Gonna Love You Through It," a song about battling cancer. The performance reminded McEntire of Blackstock, who died on August 7th of this year at age 48 from melanoma, a form of skin cancer.

McEntire, who was previously married to Blackstock's father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, shared her grief with the audience. "I lost my oldest son because he did not win with cancer," she said, as her voice broke. Fellow coach Snoop Dogg offered her tissues as she continued, "That was a real reminder that life goes on, and we sing songs about it so we can remember the ones around us that we love so much."

Blackstock, who had battled cancer for over three years, was the son of McEntire's former husband and the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson. McEntire described her relationship with Blackstock as "precious," recalling how she helped raise him along with her stepchildren Shawna and Chassidy. "He brought joy to everybody that met him, and we'll never forget him," McEntire said, according to PEOPLE.

The heartfelt moment on The Voice highlighted McEntire's deep connection to her stepson and the impact of his loss. As the show continues, McEntire and her fellow coaches, including Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé, will guide their teams through the competition, which airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
