CMT revealed a group of 7 powerhouse “up-and-coming” artists making up the Next Women of Country Class of 2025.
This year, CMT is spotlighting Alexandra Kay, Dasha, Kaitlin Butts, Kat Luna, Lanie Gardner, Meghan Patrick and MŌRIAH. CMT kickstarted the Next Women of Country initiative more than a decade ago to boost rapidly-rising female artists in the genre. Next Women of Country alumna Lauren Alaina will interview members of the new class during the CMT Hot 20 Countdown on Saturday (March 8). Artists named in previous CMT Next Women of Country classes over the years include Alaina, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Ella Langley, Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Megan Moroney, Mickey Guyton and many, many more.
Kay said in Friday (March 7) that she’s “been working towards this for so long,” and celebrated her place in the Class of 2025 “alongside some of country music’s most talented, rising female artists.” Similarly, Patrick shared that she’s “so honored to be part of the [CMT Next Women of Country] Class of 2025 with some of the best and most talented women in country music.”
Gardner said being part of the Next Women of Country “is more than just a title. Country music has been my home for as long as I can remember. I’m honored to be apart of something where I get to stand next to the women who have inspired me and who continue to inspire me most in music.”
“I’ve admired the [CMT Next Women] classes for years and years…I truly can’t believe that I’m a part of this,” MŌRIAH wrote as she thanked CMT for the “beautiful honor,” and encouraged others to “follow my fellow ‘next’ women and join their rise.”
