Chris Janson just released a powerful video for his latest single “Drunk Girl.” While the song sends a message to guys about treating women with respect, the video tackles the idea of consent, through the eyes of a young woman.
The clip follows a young girl into adulthood, and at one point she appears to be date raped at a frat party. Later, when an older version of the girl is drunk following a night at the bar, she encounters the exact opposite experience, a nice guy who puts her in a car, and asks her to let him know that she got home safe.
The date rape scene is quite disturbing, and it was enough for Chris to add a warning at the front of the video, noting that it “addresses sensitive topics that might be upsetting to some audiences.” And the video was a pretty emotional one for Chris. “I don’t cry very easily,” he tells People. “But man, this one broke me down quick.”
