Raul Malo of the Mavericks is offering up a positive update in his ongoing battle against cancer. In a lengthy post on Instagram, he explained that the battle isn't over, but he feels he's getting the upper hand. "My colon surgery has been scheduled for August...16 rounds of chemo have done what they’re made to do…kill cancer. I’m not out of the woods yet but I’m on my way." Malo has been battling cancer for a year after a colonoscopy and CAT scan revealed "two cancerous spots" in his intestinal system. Along with chemo, he has undergone surgery to remove a tumor on his liver, but he remains upbeat, closing with "For all those fighting this fight…hang in there. We got this!"
Jelly Roll is not only generous, he's a thoughtful gift-giver. In a recent interview, Josh Ross, who opened for Jelly on several dates, told the story of how the superstar really considered things before giving him a gift. "He [Jelly] brought me and the band into his green room and he got everyone a Nintendo Switch. Each one of us, which to me was like the coolest thing," he said. "He was like, 'I know you guys travel a lot and you play tons of shows, this is what saves me when I'm in the airport waiting for four hours or I get a delay. You guys can pair them all together.'"
Two titans are teaming up for a new song together. Both Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton (though his wife Morgane Stapleton) announced on their socials yesterday that a new duet, "A Song to Sing," will be coming out this Friday. Lambert says of the song, "Chris understands this emotion from the inside out, because he and Morgane have both lived it. To have someone so soulful and willing to go into the heart of the feelings, to share the pull of the road and creative life – and what that means when you love someone with every bit of your being is next level. When we finished it, we both knew we wanted to release it, to share it with everyone."
