The photon pattern shifted only when the task changed, hinting that the glow somehow links to cognition. Because biophotons come from energy-making reactions, researchers wonder if neurons might use them for signaling or if the glow is just a by-product. They call the method “photoencephalography,” as if this wasn’t complicated enough, and think it could grow into a new, noninvasive way to study brain states, even if the photons turn out to have no thinking role and we’re just all “glow-brains.”
