The Recording Academy has announced it's adding a new category for country musicians at the GRAMMYs. Starting with the next awards ceremony, there will be a GRAMMY awarded to the Best Traditional Country Album. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. told "Billboard" magazine that the country music community "said, we think we need more space for our music to be celebrated and honored." The very first trophy in this new category will be given out February 1, 2026, at the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony.
Word is that Jelly Roll's son is a ghostwriter on Lil Wayne's new album "Tha Carter Six." The country singer collaborated with Wayne on the track "Sharks," and Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie XO, revealed on social media that their eight-year-old son Noah helped write the hook to the song. Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter Six" was released on June 6th.
