The first trailer for “Black Phone 2” is out and it’s horrifying. In the follow-up to the 2022 supernatural hit, Ethan Hawke returns as The Grabber who is dead set on getting his revenge on the kid who bested him in the first film, once again played by Mason Thames. The original leaned into ghostly thrills, but director Scott Derrickson says this one “is certainly more violent, scarier, more graphic.” While the “Black Phone” flick focused on middle schoolers, Derrickson adds, “a high school coming-of-age horror film” brings a whole different energy.
