Reba McEntire’s debut season as a coach on The Voice is around the corner, and the country music queen is taking now-former coach Blake Shelton’s iconic red chair on the smash-hit NBC competition show.
McEntire shared her strategy to emerge victorious in her first-ever coaching season in a new Voice promo on Tuesday afternoon (September 19). As she took the chair once occupied by Shelton, the show’s winningest coach, McEntire said: “What I plan on doing is, I’m channeling Blake. I’m gonna win this sucker.
“I just wanna say I am thrilled to be sitting in Blake’s chair,” McEntire told her fellow celebrity coaches of the upcoming season: Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and John Legend. “I hope I do it justice.”
“Maybe someone can finally class up that chair,” Legend quipped in return. He added in an interview that the new Voice coach has accomplished a lot in her massively-successful career, from her sitcom to her music, her magnetic personality and everything in between.
McEntire — who is set to release a lifestyle book and accompanying album this fall — will serve as a coach for the first time, returning to the show after serving as Mega Mentor in Shelton’s final season. She was also a Battle Advisor during the first season of the show in 2011. Season 24 of The Voice is set to premiere on September 25 and September 26 on NBC, streaming on Peacock.
