Tenille Townes has shared two festive songs this holiday season, including an original piece called "One In A Million." The song, written by Townes alongside Daniel Tashian, compares a romantic relationship to the uniqueness of individual snowflakes.
"Oh, how they sparkle and shine in the night / Oh, how they dazzle and twinkle in light / Each one is one of a kind / Oh, but you're the only one for this heart of mine," Townes sings.
In addition to her original, Townes also released her rendition of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.)" Her stripped-down approach to the Christmas classic showcases Townes' distinct vocal style.
Townes' "One In A Million" and "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" can be heard below.
Just last week, Townes kicked off her holiday celebration with a performance of "Somebody's Daughter" at 2019 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. When the track dropped in 2018, many people were immediately captivated by not only Townes' talent but also the powerful lyrics to the song.
Townes' latest single, "Jersey On The Wall," is another deep cut, inspired by a group of people the country singer met in Grand Manan, New Brunswick. The group had recently been in a tragic car accident with five kids from their high school, one of which passed away.
"'Her name was Danielle and I saw her jersey hanging on the wall in their gym," Townes explains. "And I just remember looking at that number and thinking, 'I really do have questions for God, I don't understand why those things happen,' and I think it's ok to have those questions. I think there's healing in the honesty and in the conversation itself."
