Massachusetts Caller Warned Police About Florida School Shooter

posted by WBZ Staff -

(WBZ-AM) -- A caller from Massachusetts was among two dozen that warned officials in Florida that Nikolas Cruz could pose a danger to the public.

In documents released by the Broward sheriff's office this week, it says caller advised subject Nikolas Cruz is collecting guns and knives.

That call was placed to the Broward County Sheriff's Office in November of last year. It was among dozens dating back to 2012 – many from Cruz’s late mother.

“Cruz wants to join the army concerned he will kill himself one day and believes he could be a school shooter in the making," it says.

It also says a Deputy contacted the caller located in Massachusetts by telephone no report was initiated.

After the shooting the deputy said he referred the caller to the Palm Beach Sheriff's office.

Jack Doyle with the Broward Sherriff says an internal affairs review is now underway.

The document does not say how the caller knew Cruz and many of the other calls contained in the documents came from Cruz's mother and others who knew him describing a series of violent outbursts.
