Josh Turner Concert!

Biography

Born on the 20th of November 1977, Josh Turner is a country singer hailing from South Carolina, USA. Beginning his career in 2001, he’s gone on to release a handful of albums and singles, including 2012’s “Time Is Love”, Billboard's country song of that year.

Years into his career as one of country music’s most consistent and respected stars, Josh Turner has yet to really put a foot wrong since making his musical debut in 2001. Fittingly for someone who founded a gospel quartet in his church called the Thankful Hearts, he’s always seemed to have someone higher up looking out for him.

This goes back to before his professional debut, when the 19 year old Turner developed a lesion on his right vocal cord. Most people would have lost their singing voice shortly after discovering it but Turner isn’t most people.

He had the drive and the self-control to remain on vocal rest for a whole year to let it heal naturally. With good humour, Turner says that he "learned how to whistle really well during that year." It was shortly after that experience that he upped sticks to Nashville, Tennessee to start a music career.

When it comes to country music there are no stages quite as holy as The Grand Ole Opry House, and that was exactly where Turner found himself shortly after arriving in Nashville. He performed his song “Long Black Train” there and got a standing ovation before the song had even finished. From then on, it was practically academic.

Commercially, his record is unimpeachable. “Long Black Train”, his debut album went platinum, the follow up “Your Man” went double platinum, and his records continue to sell by the truckload to this day. But Josh Turner is more than just sales figures and one good performance; he’s an unmissable talent at the very top of his game. One to see as soon as possible.
