Diane Sawyer will soon be saying goodbye to her position as anchor of ABC World News.

The journalism legend is stepping down after anchoring the show for five years and plans to begin focusing mostly on major interviews, reporting and primetime specials.

David Muir from World News’ weekend edition will be taking Diane’s seat.

His replacement on the weekend edition has not yet been named.

Diane's departure from ABC World News follows the recent retirement of longtime ABC journalist Barbara Walters.
